Situated on the banks of the Savannah River the Brandt Plantation spills over 6,000 beautiful acres with 12 guest houses and a main plantation house capable of hosting up to 500 persons at any given time on the estate. The property includes 5,000 chattel (slaves) and 200 local hired hands who work in the capacity of overseers, engineers and household assistants. As guests pull up through the broad central avenue of the plantation they will see before them row after row of ressurection ferns and spanish moss lining the drive, a road to the left turns off leading to the vast stretches of cabins where the property works and sleeps. Continuing on the carriage ride over 15 miles of riding guests will pass stretches of the river and other stretches of vast gardens set up with walking paths and interludes by which people can stop and spend time contemplating the vast amounts of nature. The main avenue narrows as the path gets closer to the house and to the right and left the antebellum guest houses can be seen, and finally over a small hill the main house comes into view with its vast esplanades and collonades demarking the main property house.
Inside the home to the left and to the right you will find the french doors of mahagony and oak are wide open revealing an extraordinary set of dual ballrooms with the main entry separating both, both of these ballrooms are large enough for orchestra playing in each and large enough for multiple couples to dance the night away. Each ballroom has small doors leading out to the spectacular gardens with magnificent flowers and foliage appropriate to the season and time of year with beautiful spanish moss trees lining the edges and marble walking paths illuminated by a thousand lanterns to light the way. Returning to the house the guests will find that other doors lead to small sitting rooms and parlors each illuminated for this ball with semi-bright lighting and refreshments from a waiting darkie ready for consumption. The spectacular environment creates an aurora of mystery yet enough to set it apart with extravagant decor bringing to mind the medieval sense of honor and romanticism that makes the south so unique yet so alluring to many throughout the country.
Welcome to Brandt Plantation, enjoy your state in one of the South's finest working plantations.

Elijah and Jean Surratt arrive both by horse back racing one another to the gates of the Brandt Plantation. Jean beats his older brother Elijah and is eager to dismount first...he's amazed by the size and beauty, he then motions to his brother;
"Oh wow this is just glorious. Reminds you of Montpellier, no?"
Elijah, just a few seconds behind, also enjoys the scope and marvels of the Plantation
"Only in America...anyways you cheated! Farmer Brown told me that you where feeding the horses this morning. I new you put something in Michelob's food!"
Jean, surprised his brother had learned of his plot
"It's not like I harmed him, I give him a very small hit of opiate. You know to make him feel 'happy'."
They both let out a brotherly laughter and began to enter the estate, with each step reminding themselves of their old home in now Revolutionary France.

Suddenly from up on top of the stairs several young women appear led by a woman with blonde hair ((Kirsten Dunst in the picture)), curtysing slightly the woman held out her hand to Elijah and Jean "Its a pleasure to welcome you here to Brandt Plantation, will you come in?"

The body slave holds out his hand to collect the coat of the Congressman and his wife "Please allow my body man to take care of your coats, welcome to Brandt Plantation and make yourselves at home. Would you like to be taken there to freshen up or would you like to join the other guests directly in the ballroom?" William asks

Jean and Elijah allow their horses to be taken to stable. They greet the butler and thank him for the offer of food. Both men take from the platter. Soon after they notice the group of women. Jean is first to speak up;"To whom do we have the pleasure of welcoming us to Mr. Brandt's fine estate?"

The blonde woman at the front of the women smiles and points to the girls "I am Catherine Brandt wife of William and I feel like sometimes co-household manager of this estate!" Catherine says with a laugh before looking back to the other girls "These are my daughters all of whom except for my eldest are unmarried. In the back is Elizabeth who is 16 who is engaged to James Percy from the next plantation over, next to her is Anne who is 17 and next to her is Antoinette who is 19 and staying with us right now while the unrest is happening in France. Antoinette is a cousin of King Louis of France and fled here to take part in our peace and quiet." Catherine says while Antoinette gives a curtsy and a smile causing the other girls to blush at her sophisticated parisian court manners.

Jaqueline beams, greeting Brandt, while James gives the slave his coat.
"Congressman, it is such an honor to come down," she says, "thank you very much for the invitation. You have such a beautiful estate -- just stunning. I think I would like to step up to the room, if that's okay -- but I imagine my husband..."
"Will just want to head to the ballroom for a drink," James says, smiling, and offering Brandt his hand. "Thank you indeed for the invitation -- it's really a pleasure."

"Will just want to head to the ballroom for a drink," James says, smiling, and offering Brandt his hand. "Thank you indeed for the invitation -- it's really a pleasure." The slave lowers his head slightly in respect to Jacqueline , "Right this way Missus" and leads her upstairs to the bedroom, standing outside the door he opens it while remaining outside so as to avoid any semblance of impropriety. "If you need anything I will be right outside in the hallway." Inside the room the first thing one sees is a formal sitting room with high back edwardian chairs and a deeply toned mahagony desk and a door leading into a bedroom with large french doors that were open onto a balcony to let a gentle evening breeze into the room, on the other side sat a bathroom with a bathtub and basin for bathroom functions and a door leading into a sitting room for receiving guests which had many chaise lounges for women folk and a small piano with ivory keys for entertaining guests. In essence it was a small house within a house with the ammenities one could expect from a wealthy plantation owner.Meanwhile in the ballroom William leads James into the ballroom which is teeming with people including many plantation owners, one of whom sees William walking in with James and calls out "William! Good to see you, how is the cotton crop coming? Are you ready for the next planting?" William smiles and shakes the mans hand and turns to James "James I'd like you to meet a friend of mine and fellow plantation owner and a leader in the Georgia Militia, Colonel Davis Lee." William turns to the Colonel and speaks "Colonel, this is James a Congressman friend of mine from Washington." The Colonel smiles and extends his hand to James "Congressman its a pleasure, tell me my good friend what do you think we should do to stimulate a greater export of cotton from the south? Any ideas?"

Terrus shakes the Colonel's hand. "Colonel, it's an honor. I know things down here have been a bit hairy of late for the militia; I hope they improve soon. As for cotton exports, I think the most important thing right now is establishing formal relations with the European powers, so as to permit full trading. A lot of our merchants are operating in the blind right now, having no idea what they'll run into on a foreign coast, and no idea who to go to for help once there. Once we've got ambassadors in Britain, France, Spain, and Portugal, that ought to change a bit. But I'm no cotton expert -- my business has always been more in munitions. What do you think's needed?"

But enough of such talk" A mischevious glint appears in her eye as she looks at Jean and raises an eyebrow "Would you like to see something spectacular?" She beckons him to follow as she springs off the steps leaving her shoes behind and hefting her crinolines, a little petite slave girl chases after her "Missus!" "Missus" "I s'uppose to make sure you dont get lost" Antoinette looks back at Jean and shoots him a semi-flirtatious look and beckons him to follow. The other girls and Mrs Brandt smile and try not to giggle too much at this

The Colonel nods his head in agreement at some of the points and then speaks "Congressman your spot on, greater outreach to European powers is important and will help us to get our cotton out quicker. I did hear of a bill that would restrict the entry of ships carrying chattel into our waters, surely wouldn't support something that could restrict our ability to expedite cotton growing more efficiently?" The Colonel looks at William who speaks "You can be certain its not something I will support Colonel!" William says with confidence

Terrus laughs and rolls his eyes. "Oh, God, the Slave Ship Restriction Act? Or any one of the other random abolitionist bills in Congress?" Terrus shakes his head. "Look, I have nothing against abolitionists, just as I have nothing against pacifists. But I don't look to pacifists for policy, just as I don't look to abolitionists for policy. No, you won't see me supporting that joke. There are just too many things of far greater importance on the docket. I'm personally hoping to make a push for my Economic Prosperity Act in the near future. I know that some here in the South think it's not good enough on fugitive slaves, but I'm sure we can address that through amendments; we truly need to address fugitive slave issues and the state debts sooner than later."

It makes me scratch my head more than a few times seeing the type of bills rolling through Congress these days. Perhaps you might run for President in the future? You and William both would make fine politicians." William downs a bit of scotch at this remark and suppresses a cough as it goes down the wrong pipe

Antoinette runs through the gardens hoisting her petticoats and hoops skirt up as best as she can so they dont drag through the foliage features on either side of the path. Going through a metal gate she motions for Elijah to follow and suddenly she disappears with a scream and a loud splash is heard with water flying up in the air. "Come on its perfect!" Antoinette calls to Elijah Meanwhile Catherine Brandt motions to Jean "You are from France? I have something that might interest you in the study."

Terrus laughs. "You're telling me. We just saw a bill about a national education commission. I was speechless. Just speechless. As for the presidency, well, who knows. 1792 is a long way away. I'm much more focused on this year's congressional elections -- it'll be a real chance to get a lot more folks like William and I into office. And then we'll go from there." "I have to say -- my bigger concern right now is right here in Georgia. The reports about this Seminole force are...frightening. If not downright horrifying. I'm no military man -- as you may know, I spent my time during the war doing much less honorable things -- but I know enough to know a bad picture when I see it."

The daughters seeing the blood let out hysterical screams and ran off into the house screaming for William to come at once. Shortly after William comes out and sees his wife and the blood trickling from her neck, the slaves nearby have put her on a chaise lounger outside of the house and are fanning her. Turning to the Congressman he quickly remarks "You had better get inside, this is no place for a Congressman." He instructs his body slave to show him to the ballroom where the other guests are. William turns to his other body slave "Get a doctor from town quick, this looks bad." William turns to his wife and cradles her in his arms, a solitary tear trickles down his cheek "My dearest wife, I can't lose you now. Please don't go"
