Antoinette smiles and laughs as she covers up using his waistcoat and overcoat "I think that is a splendid idea, but I think you should carry me back so the rescue seems all the more real." Antoinette says hoping that he will do just that carrying her in his big strong arms. Meanwhile Mrs Brandt pauses for a second and takes the robe of Charlamagne and drapes it over Jean's shoulders "I think you should wear this, it would be quite the head turner upstairs" And with that Mrs Brandt links arms with Jean and allows him to escort her back upstairs to where the other guests are. Elijah delighted with the newly crafted plan "Absolutely! Shall we?" He picks her up and cradles her. They then proceed back inside. The walk is short and sweet, Elijah smiling and never taking his eyes off Antoinette's. As the approach the house Elijah is able to open the door with even a hint of struggle. He proceeds to the ballroom with Antoinette still in his arms.
"Mr. and Mrs. Brandt, I'm afraid we've had an accident. While I admit we where fooling around like school children, Antoinette fell into the pond. Never fear I was able to save her. We're here now ready to act like adults again." Elijah had a grin from ear to ear. Jean was absolutely delighted to wear such a robe. He wears it with pride and honor as they re-enter the hall way. With Mrs. Bandt in arm they arrive at the top of the stairs in time to catch his brother Elijah hoisting Antoinette in his arms, both soaking wet. "My my Elijah, never one to turn away from having a good time I see! Come lets all get cleaned up and meet the rest of the guest invited here by the gracious and honorable Brandt's." Jean then motions as if to hint to Mrs. Brandt to introduce him and and his brother to her husband, Colonel Williams, and Mr. Terrus.
Antoinette smiles and then turns slightly horrified at being taken directly into the ballroom still sopping wet, looking up at elijah she laughs as he explains their predicament. Both Mr & Mrs Brandt struggle to contain their amusement before Mr Brandt steps forward and whispers to Elijah "You lay one hand on her inappropriately and take her honor and that will be the least". William slaps the smile right back on and motions to a body slave "Take these two upstairs and make sure they have clean clothes to change into. The body slave leads both of them out of the ballroom and up a flight of stairs to separate adjoining bedrooms connected by a single door and sets out clean clothes for both of them. Antoinette flashes a flirtatious smile at Elijah as the top straps of her dress slide off and she closes the door in the nick of time. William hugs his wife and extends his hand to Jean "It seems you found Charlamagne's coronation robe, it fits you well! Its nice to meet you, I trust you are finding everything to your satisfaction here on the plantation?" William asks, his wife interjects "I wouldn't be surprised if he is King Louis here in exile!" She says with a silvery bell like laugh. The colonel smiles and laughs at this "Its nice to meet you young man" and with a glint in his eye as if just thinking of something he speaks up "Say! Have you any experience in fighting or combat? We could use good strong men like you to fight those savage Seminoles!"

The Colonel looks up at the Congressman and speaks assertively "Congressman, I can say without a doubt if we do not stop them they will make it this far and likely keep going clear on to Virginia if we don't stop them. These savages just want to murder, rape and pillage our lands like Viking pagans from long ago, there is no honor for them or a higher purpose or greater objective, it is purely the base human level of evil that propels these individuals to go forwards. That is why we must build up a strong force to stop them and push them so far back into their own lands that they should never want to rise again, if we merely destroyed them completely it would be more effective but it would be difficult to do so. The Colonel takes a brandy and offers a second glass to Terrus William speaks "I voted for the National Military bill in Congress for precisely this purpose, I continue to hear about raids happening 30 even 20 miles from this plantation raising my own fears that it is only a matter of time before they end up here. But make no worry, I will defend this plantation down to the very last man if need be. Those savages will not ransack Brandt Plantation at all." Terrus accepts the glass, and downs about half of it. "I certainly hope that will not be necessary, Congressman, though I will certainly admit the situation is worse than I had thought. I had no idea they had made it this far inland. It's definitely a concern. But the President has just raised a force of nearly 25,000 men -- I'm sure that should be enough to turn the tide?" The Congressman sighs. "I'll admit -- I remain uneasy about a large standing force. I had hoped that the army I've proposed -- one committed to coordinating, training, and equipping the state militias -- would allow us to simply raise militias in times of war. But I did provide for a single active regiment -- perhaps this legion can ultimately come to assuage those of us worried about such matters." The Colonel turns back to face Congressman Terrus "25,000 is good but what happens if the Spanish decide to follow the Seminoles up this far? Will we be able to hold them off as well? I daresay we will have plenty on our plate if we have to handle the Seminoles and the Spanish and tactically it would make sense. The Seminoles would clear the way and the Spanish would follow soon after to claim the land. I'm not sure what most of us could do against the cannon and cavalry of the Spanish conquistadors and their thirst for gold and treasure!

Terrus shakes his head. "The Spaniards are watching their Northern neighbor, and closest ally, collapse into revolution. I cannot imagine that they'd commit themselves to a war halfway across the world when they could find themselves facing their own revolution, or facing an attack from a new France, at any time. But if they do come, Colonel, I am absolutely confident that a militia force organized and equipped by the federal government would be able to hold them off."

He then knocks on Antoinetts door and says the following;
"My lady I'll have you know I'm a gentleman. I can only try my best to resist your advances however if you keep up I'm sure you'll get me into trouble." Hoping to catch Antoinette at diner in a more acceptable manor. He hurries downstairs to make sure his brother hasn't said anything too damning. He arrives just as the Colonel is introduced. He's able to hear Jean say the following;"Yes Colonel, my brother and I both served under Washington soon after Trenton. Elijah was shot through the hand losing three fingers while commanding a company of line infantry. He soon later lost the whole hand to infection. I was blessed by God by not being shot or receiving a single wound. We're battle hardened men and we would die for this new Republic. I suppose that's why Elijah got it in his head to run for the House. I feel I can do more damage with a printing press. Under my leadership the North Carolina State Gazette has done a tremendous job of informing the Southern Colonies of the Seminole Crisis." Elijah was never as proud to hear his younger brother speak than he was in this very moment."Yes Colonel, while I sat at home nursing a wound Jean had the opportunity to travel up and down the middle and southern Colonies during the War. He saw action at Yorktown and Charleston. He also helped in a big way at Cowpens, although he'll never admit it. After the war General Washington allowed me to comb over a few after action reports. Jean served with honor and distinction, especially here during the Southern Campaign." Elijah took the opportunity to let Jean basque in the spot light. Scanning the room he saw a familiar face. "Representative Terrus, it's very nice to see you. How are your holdings in New York?"

"Representative Terrus, it's very nice to see you. How are your holdings in New York?" At Elijah's comment to her about "advances" Antoinette feels enraged at the liberty he takes to suggest she is somehow responsible for all of this, Antoinette dresses and goes down the stairs into the ballroom wearing an elegant dress with hoop skirts and walks up to Elijah and slaps him across the face.
"The gall you have to suggest I am sullying my own name and honor" Antoinette says before hurrying out into the gardens with a few tears running down her cheeks. The Colonel turns to Elijah after hearing his brother's account and then Antoinette's words and comments brusquely "For a man who has survived combat, you seem to have not learned the most important lesson, that being how to handle a few moments with a lady!" The Colonel gives a brief nod to William and clicks his heels in European military fashion and walks towards the garden presumably to calm Antoinette. William turns to Elijah as well "My dear man, what have you done to her?" Turning to Jean "I am sorry for this interruption in the evening, I had not anticipated it."
