William downs a bit of scotch at this remark and suppresses a cough as it goes down the wrong pipe
Terrus laughs. "You're telling me. We just saw a bill about a national education commission. I was speechless. Just speechless. As for the presidency, well, who knows. 1792 is a long way away. I'm much more focused on this year's congressional elections -- it'll be a real chance to get a lot more folks like William and I into office. And then we'll go from there." "I have to say -- my bigger concern right now is right here in Georgia. The reports about this Seminole force are...frightening. If not downright horrifying. I'm no military man -- as you may know, I spent my time during the war doing much less honorable things -- but I know enough to know a bad picture when I see it." The colonels face takes on a deep concern "Indeed the Seminole invasion has been most alarming, we have reports coming in on an almost daily basis about the tide of the fighting. Perhaps you can convince Washington to get together a sizeable army and lead them into battle here. If he could do it against the British I'm sure he could do it against these savages." The Colonel is interrupted by the sound of hysterical screams suddenly the door burst open and a very attractive girl stumbles in with a tear coming down her face she looks directly at William and goes up to his ear but speaks somewhat loudly enough that everyone else can hear around her "Daddy you have to come quick, some Congressman showed up with these big beasts I have no idea what they are but I think they are elephants like the ones they talk about at Sunday School that the missionaries in Africa see. And Momma just collapsed in a heap and shes bleeding real bad, youve gotta come!" William's face turns white and he turns to the gentleman and gives a courteous nod "Please excuse me, I must attend to my wife"

Terrus looks at Lee. "Did you just hear cannons? We'd better check this out..." He turns to follow Brandt out.

Jean is hesitant. He's more fixated on Mrs. Brandt. Elijah however jumps at the opportunity. "Antoinette, I'd love to join you. My brother on the other hand is not up for any fun tonight." Jean, the perfect wing man chimed in"Perhaps another time Antoinette. I'm sure Mrs. Brandt has a sitting room or tea room to show me." Antoinette giggles at the hestiation and watches Elijah and waves him over "Well come on!" Antoinette runs through the gardens hoisting her petticoats and hoops skirt up as best as she can so they dont drag through the foliage features on either side of the path. Going through a metal gate she motions for Elijah to follow and suddenly she disappears with a scream and a loud splash is heard with water flying up in the air. "Come on its perfect!" Antoinette calls to Elijah Meanwhile Catherine Brandt motions to Jean "You are from France? I have something that might interest you in the study."
As Elijah took off running after Antoinette Jean was delighted to see what Mrs. Brandt wanted to show him."Yes Madame, My brother and I are the heirs to "Mon Surratt", our Father is the Duke. We're of Montpellier. It sits on the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. I suppose that's why he was so interested in Ms. Antoinette. I do apologize for his blunt behavior. What is it that you would like to show me?" Running past Jean to follow Antoinette into gardens Elijah almost stumbles over a rock that Antoinette jumped over."Wait up!" he calls. Finally he reaches the body of water she jumped in. He rips off his waist coat and howls like an Indian before he jumps in."Wow, quite warm. I thought it would be freezing!"

((Brandt, I'm just responding to what the colonel said, and pretending the rest did not happen.))
"I'm in full agreement. I think now is the time to mobilize some of the state militiamen, to get a sizable force down here. The volunteers just aren't going to cut it; we need a full-scale response."

Mrs Brandt takes a skeleton key from her pocket and pushes against the wall causing it to open leading to a door with a key hole, she puts the key into the key and turns it clockwise 3 times causing the door to slide upwards into the ceiling revealing a spiral staircase going downwards. Walking down the stairs she pulls out another skeleton key and leads the way to another door that she opens with the key revealing a shallow stream likely from the Savannah River pulling a pirogue up to the ledge she clambers inside and then onto the opposite bank and opens a cabinet revealing a long robe and a crown "Here is the robe of Charlamagne and his crown used in the coronation, it was sent here with Antoinette for safe keeping during the revolution. I hope you won't breath a word of this to anyone, the last thing we would need is French revolutionaries showing up here on our doorstep!" Meanwhile Antoinette's dress seemingly slid right off in the water causing her to squeal "Oh my daisies! I'm only in my petticoats. Please tell me you won't say anything to Catherine or Will they would be absolutely mortified to hear of it". Antoinette suddenly got a mischevious glint in her eye and she swam over and dunked Elijah under the water and quickly swam over behind a few rocks and hid at the surface of the water hoping he wouldnt catch her!

Only concern I have is that those negros might get ideas of revolution in their head if you give them a gun to use. What say you?" William interjects "I don't see a need to arm the slaves quite yet, if anything I'll go around to the plantations and get some of the hired workers together and create a plantation militia to defend us from attack with. This estate here has natural defences with the river crossing on the way in providing an excellent way of monitoring movement into the estate."

Congressman Coburg waits outside of the estate in the tall bushes outside of the gates and he pulls out a gun loads it and hands it to his slave who stuffs it in his butt crack, the slave slinks inside the estate and gets to the house where he throws himself through a window to get inside, the slave then goes up the back staircase and shoots the slave upstairs in the balls to incapacitate him, he then heads back downstairs confident he can find Congressman Surrat to kill him quickly and quietly.

William grabs the gun and pistol whips the slave "What is the meaning of this? Bringing a gun into my house? How dare you" He orders the slave taken to the household manager for discipline and asks the slave where he got the weapon, upon hearing nothing he orders the gates locked and a guard posted outside the estate. "I will not have ruffians in my plantation. Not now, not ever"

Theo is gone and we're back open for business.
To clarify to Brandt, it was just a verbal warning. I didn't even make a record of it on his profile.

"It's a sad statement that this conversation is even necessary. Do you really think they'll make it this far? I know we're finally getting together a militia force; maybe we can reverse this. This is why I pushed hard for the Army -- because while I don't want a standing force, if the militias get defeated by those Indians, we're going to see a push for some massive federal military force. And that scares me."

The Colonel looks up at the Congressman and speaks assertively "Congressman, I can say without a doubt if we do not stop them they will make it this far and likely keep going clear on to Virginia if we don't stop them. These savages just want to murder, rape and pillage our lands like Viking pagans from long ago, there is no honor for them or a higher purpose or greater objective, it is purely the base human level of evil that propels these individuals to go forwards. That is why we must build up a strong force to stop them and push them so far back into their own lands that they should never want to rise again, if we merely destroyed them completely it would be more effective but it would be difficult to do so.
The Colonel takes a brandy and offers a second glass to Terrus
William speaks "I voted for the National Military bill in Congress for precisely this purpose, I continue to hear about raids happening 30 even 20 miles from this plantation raising my own fears that it is only a matter of time before they end up here. But make no worry, I will defend this plantation down to the very last man if need be. Those savages will not ransack Brandt Plantation at all."

Antoinette suddenly got a mischevious glint in her eye and she swam over and dunked Elijah under the water and quickly swam over behind a few rocks and hid at the surface of the water hoping he wouldnt catch her! Jean is in complete awe. He is almost at a loss for words. "My my this is amazing! I really am thankful that you decided to show this to me. I am sure your estate was the right place to keep these historical artifacts safe from destruction. Mrs. Brandt your secret is safe with me." Jean gives the crown a good look over and then decides"I think it's time we got back to the party!" Jean extends his arm to interlock with Mrs. Brandts
Elijah is caught completely off guard by Antoinette's dress slipping off and proceeds to turn his head before catching a glimpse of her soaked body until immidiately being dunked into the water. He then catches his thoughts. He laughs as he comes back to the surface.
"My overcoat and waistcoat are just over there. Might I recommend that you cover up with those?" He himself then proceeds to leave the small pond."How will we explain our wetness to Mr. and Mrs. Brandt? Maybe we could convince them that as we where running you fell into the water and I came to your rescue?" The last word rescue was said with a big grin on Elijah's face.

Antoinette smiles and laughs as she covers up using his waistcoat and overcoat "I think that is a splendid idea, but I think you should carry me back so the rescue seems all the more real." Antoinette says hoping that he will do just that carrying her in his big strong arms.
Meanwhile Mrs Brandt pauses for a second and takes the robe of Charlamagne and drapes it over Jean's shoulders "I think you should wear this, it would be quite the head turner upstairs" And with that Mrs Brandt links arms with Jean and allows him to escort her back upstairs to where the other guests are.

Elijah delighted with the newly crafted plan "Absolutely! Shall we?" He picks her up and cradles her. They then proceed back inside. The walk is short and sweet, Elijah smiling and never taking his eyes off Antoinette's. As the approach the house Elijah is able to open the door with even a hint of struggle. He proceeds to the ballroom with Antoinette still in his arms.
"Mr. and Mrs. Brandt, I'm afraid we've had an accident. While I admit we where fooling around like school children, Antoinette fell into the pond. Never fear I was able to save her. We're here now ready to act like adults again." Elijah had a grin from ear to ear. Jean was absolutely delighted to wear such a robe. He wears it with pride and honor as they re-enter the hall way. With Mrs. Bandt in arm they arrive at the top of the stairs in time to catch his brother Elijah hoisting Antoinette in his arms, both soaking wet. "My my Elijah, never one to turn away from having a good time I see! Come lets all get cleaned up and meet the rest of the guest invited here by the gracious and honorable Brandt's." Jean then motions as if to hint to Mrs. Brandt to introduce him and and his brother to her husband, Colonel Williams, and Mr. Terrus.

"I certainly hope that will not be necessary, Congressman, though I will certainly admit the situation is worse than I had thought. I had no idea they had made it this far inland. It's definitely a concern. But the President has just raised a force of nearly 25,000 men -- I'm sure that should be enough to turn the tide?" The Congressman sighs. "I'll admit -- I remain uneasy about a large standing force. I had hoped that the army I've proposed -- one committed to coordinating, training, and equipping the state militias -- would allow us to simply raise militias in times of war. But I did provide for a single active regiment -- perhaps this legion can ultimately come to assuage those of us worried about such matters."

New South Carolina Congressman Bubba Redneck loves himself a party and comes waltzing into the ballroom with a few barmaids he picked up at a saloon not far from the plantation, the barmaids are about 4 in number and all topless. Going up to Terrus he passes off a barmaid to him "Why hello there! My aren't you sexy, would you like to have some fun?" The barmaid asks Terrus.
Bubba extends his hand to the colonel and to the Congressman "The name is Robert but all my friends call me Bubba, these girls are some friends who wanted to come to the party, I hope you don't mind. They have some nice jugs don't you think?" Bubba says playful bouncing one of the girls breasts causing her to giggle in delight. Bubba turns to the Colonel "Mighty shame about those damn injuns don't you think? We should shoot them all and pave a new road thruogh Florida with their carcasses."
