In the Session of Congress begun and held at the City of New-York on Monday, the second of June, one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine BE IT ENACTED BY THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN CONGRESS ASSEMBLED, That the motto of the United States shall be "E Pluribus Unum." BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That any coin minted by the United States shall bear the national motto. BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the national anthem of the United States is "Hail Columbia". BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the following shall be the flag of the United States: "BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this act shall be codified as Chapter 1 of Title VII of the United States code, the title entitled "Title VII. Symbols & Standards," the chapter titled "Chapter 1. National Symbols", and each provision of this bill numbered as a Section, Sections 1-4, except this provision, which will not be included at all in the codification of this law."
