All characters can attempt to influence the state legislature when deciding who to elect as the next Governor by posting here. You may write to them or even speak with them if you are from this state.
Currently, Governor *Beverly Randolph (I) is being challenged by supporters of +Henry Lee III (F). It is expected that approximately 55 legislators support Lee at this time.

To the honorable members of the legislature of the Commonwealth of Virginia,
It is my distinct pleasure to write to you all today on behalf of a colleague and friend of mine, Henry Lee. I know that you all are familiar with his story, so I do not need to go into that at this time- the man is a true hero of the American Revolution that allowed us to throw off the chains of bondage held by the tyrant King George, and he represented the ideals of all Virginians at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. For his meritorious service and his conduct as the commander of the famous Lee's Legion, he was awarded a gold medal by the Continental Congress- an award he earned as a Major that was given to no one below a General's rank before him.
After being a man who helped author the document which governs our young Republic, Mr. Lee is now looking to serve the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia as its next Governor, following in the steps of Thomas Jefferson and of Patrick Henry. I know his heart is strong in its desire to serve the people and ensure security and prosperity at a time where this young Republic needs it most.
His leadership, in wartime and in peacetime, is unrivaled by any other candidate for Governor. I have no desire to attack the name of Beverley Randolph, but a rather average history and average leadership of the Commonwealth can now be replaced by a man who is a genuine and unquestioned hero. Henry Lee is a true son of Virginia, and proud, and he would do the greatest service to the people of Virginia as its next governor.
I write to you all with the deepest respect, and hope to have the pleasure to spend more time in Virginia on my way to the national capital in New York on my next trip.
With warmest regards, I am,
/s/ Andrew Beaumont Representative of South Carolina Loyal servant of these united States.

Distinguished members of the Legislature of Virginia,
Today I call on you to re-elect Beverly Randolph as our Governor. With that said I ask you to ignore outside voices from South Carolina who wish to manipulate the decisions of the men of Virginia. Although Light-Horse Harry Lee is an honorable man whom I had the great pleasure of serving with in the Continental Army the political party which he now associates himself with strives for weakening the role of the Government of Virginia. Their main issue at this time is the establishment of a National Bank operating out of New York. The simple facts are that the Federalist Party advocates for interest rates to be dictated out of New York. This is simply absurd considering our own Virginia operates many local banks that know their customers, that understand the nature of their customers businesses.
Further more the Federalist Party is hellbent on getting involved in foreign affairs. Who would say "no" to calling up the Virginia Militia to fight and shed blood for a European Monarchy? The Federalist Mr. Lee? Or Our current Governor Beverly Randolph? The answer is obvious. God Bless you all, and may God Bless Virginia.
Your friend,
Elijah Surratt, Congressman of the Virginia 3rd.

To the honorable members of the legislature of the Commonwealth of Virginia,
As the time of choosing a Governor for the great Commonwealth is fast approaching, I wish to write to you all on a most disturbing subject and one that should perhaps convince you that my intentions in writing this letter is not somehow self-serving. That I am not a native son of Virginia, though dearly I wish that I were, should not be reason enough to disregard my strong passion for ensuring that this fine Commonwealth has the best representation that it can possible get and the best public servants that it could get in the same vein as Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry.
As Governor Randolph has, so I have heard, thrown his lot in with a group known as the "Republican Party," I understand that there may be some confusion as to what that brings you. Rightfully, choosing to be a member of a political faction does bring with it some benefits: a clear identifier, for instance, that can perfectly sum up what a person believes. And while the Federalists are intent on establishing a national bank- after all, many of our founding fathers have asked for one, including the man you support for Senator in James Monroe in saying that yes, such a bank is constitutional and necessary for the operation of these united States. But what the Republicans are offering is a new "national platform" that Governor Randolph will have to accept as a member of their organization. This national platform will mean Republicans dictate how Virginia should operate and be governed rather than experienced and qualified me. If anyone in this legislature is concerned about too much centralization, let them be concerned about organizations such as the Republicans and the National Democrats that claim the leadership knows better than the men who are representing their states and their districts.
We Federalists have no such platform that we will hold states to. As your Governor, Henry Lee will be free from any demands from a central committee or from the capital and will have all ability and control over state affairs in Virginia. No man has better qualities- that has generally been conceded- or the experience that a Governor needs.
Look not at my State, but at my heart. Know that I care deeply about these united States- including the Commonwealth of Virginia. And in that, remember who will lead Virginia to prosperity- Mr. Lee- and who will subject the desires of this very Legislature to a "national platform" and a party of central control.
With warmest regards, I am,
/s/
Andrew Beaumont
Representative of South Carolina
Loyal servant of these united States.

Congressman Elijah Surratt after first writing the Legislature of Virgina felt he needed to make an appearance. After dismounting and striding into the Legislature he took the floor...
"Great men of Virgina! I am glad to be here to support two men that I feel represent the true values of the greatest State in this new Country. Political Factions aside both Beverly Randolph and James Monroe embolden the spirit of Virginia and the Liberty of which we fought for during the War for Independence. A choice is before you. Will you chose the opposite of these men? Will you align yourself with the Federalist Faction that seeks to limit the powers of the State of Virginia or will you embrace the Strength and Sovereignty of our great State? Will men of the Virginia Militia, the largest Militia, be forced into war in Europe? Will Virginia cede it's financial prowess to New York? I hope not, nay I pray not! God Blessed our State with vast natural resources and great leaders of Liberty such as Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry. Are we to abandon those leaders because of a letter from a wanna-be Virginian who was born and resides in South Carolina?
That's right. I know of the letters and writings that are pouring into this chamber from Mr. Beaumont. I'm well aware of his silver tongue that speaks volumes of Thomas Jefferson with the intention to compare him to the current Federalists seeking these offices currently up for consideration by this chamber. I find it laughable that members of the Virgina Legislature would even consider his words. Further more I would find it humiliating that a member of the Virginia House would take orders from a non-Virginian. You represent the greatest form of Government this continent has to offer. Don't throw it away because a South Carolinian compared John Walker to Thomas Jefferson and that excited you.
Gentleman of Virgina the question has to be asked. Would we rid ourselves of the shackles and chains of King George only to have them thrown back on by Andrew Beaumont and John Walker? Their political leanings tilt towards a Virginia ran from New York, not Richmond. They espouse the necessity for a National Bank then fail to defend why a Bank is needed in the first place. We're told to 'Align' with Britain for the good of 'trade and commerce'...would it not be wise to align with all of Europe for Virginian exports? We're told by Federalist that a strong 'United' America is the path to take. Does that 'United' path not limit the powers of this very Legislature? I believe so. James Monroe believes so. Beverly Randolph believes so.
I urge the distinguished members here to elect men who support Virgina, who support the Liberty and Freedom of the common man. So that he may generate wealth and prosperity without the Government knocking on his door for increased taxes, weakening the sovereignty of Virginia, and forcing him to fight in favor of a Monarchy in Europe.
Thank you for your time and may God Bless Virginia."
