Spring 1790 Entry 1:
Ive returned to Brandt Plantation on the banks of the Savannah River today to manage the preparations for an event that will likely be the highlight of the social calendar this year. My dear wife Catherine has been frantic in trying to attain new silk curtains for the foyer and atria areas and replacing the decor for several of the upstairs sitting rooms and patios. I've tried to reassure her that anything she does will be more than adequate but alas the concerns of the female sex are far more pretentious than anything the male mind could ever possibly understand. I am glad for the cares of state for I know the efforts I make in Washington will prepare for us a nation that will last far longer than my plantation could ever possibly dream to exist. I believe this ball will be a tremendous success however with guests likely to come from all the 13 states and possibly overseas as well. Catherine sent a letter to her brothers in the Russian Empire to attend, we will see what comes of that!
