To: His Majesty, Carlos Antonio Pascual Francisco Javier Juan Nepomuceno Jose Januario Serafin Diego, King of Spain From: James Theodore Hamilton Von Coburg, His Serene Highness Prince of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, Duke of Saxony.
Your Majesty,
It has been some time since I last left correspondance with your serene personage, I am reminded of the time I spent in the service of your father, His Excellency Charles II and your mother Her Excellency Maria Amalia of Saxony of which was excellent service to the duties of the Spanish Navy in combating piracy off the Barbary coast. I am constantly filled with the deep regret at having lost the ship Reina del Tesoro to those murderous pirating fiends who captured myself and my livelihood and that of the ship as well. It is my hope that I can earn your pardon and most of all entreat upon you to pay a visit to these United States if not to be my personal guest at my own properties here in America then to see for yourself the fine democracy that has been established. It is wonderous the land available here and the amount of property that can be had, indeed I am often reminded of the coasts near to Sevilla when at my estate in South Carolina and Georgia. As always, I am forever indebted to your majesty and the people of Spain for the opportunity afforded to my personage during the tender years of life.
Sincerely,
James Theodore Hamilton Von Coburg

To: Louis Phillips, Chief Slave Officer (CSO) for Hamilton Estates From: James Theodore Hamilton
Louis,
I hope this letter finds you well and the properties in excellent condition, it is my hope as always to understand that your labors on behalf of my estate have been productive and fruitful. If you could instruct the overseers to increase production among the slaves for the annual cotton harvest coming up soon I would be appreciative. As always remember that the slaves must be treated well so that we can continue to get the most work out of them possible, anything less would be far to expensive to even consider.
Best Wishes,
James Hamilton

Congressman Von Coburg,
I would count it an honor and a privilege to have someone of your illustrious aristocratic background in attendance at a ball at my family's plantation. As a fellow plantation owner I think having you present would be of significant benefit to the other plantation owners that will be in attendance at the ball. Should you accept my invitation and decide to come I will send a carriage to pick you and a guest up from your present lodgings and transport you to my plantation in Georgia. I look forward to seeing you soon.
