Name: Josiah Williams Party: Independent (Federalist leanings) Date of Birth: July 4, 1745 Residence: Boston, Massachusetts Occupation: Justice, Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts
Biography: Born into a well off family in Massachusetts, it always seemed like Josiah was always destined to become a lawyer. He was sent off to Harvard to study law. Upon completion he went back to Boston to open a private practice. He married and had kids and it seemed like his life would be normal. However that all changed with the outbreak of the revolutionary war, Joseph joined the effort and became a member of the Massachusets Committee of Correspondence. More than once he provided legal opinions to the members of the Continental Congress. At the end of the war, Josiah went back to his private practice until he was appointed a judge for his local district. After a few years Judge Williams became Justice Williams when Governor John Hancock appointed him as a Associate Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts. Along with serving on the court, Justice Williams will from time to time publish editorials and papers in local newspapers on constitutional issues as well as the constitutional questions facing Congress
