Estates-General Convenes In France
On this 5th day of May, in the year of our Lord 1789, his Majesty, King Louis XVI of France convened the Estates-General in the Palace of Versailles. His Majesty has convened the Estates-General in order to "Bring peace to a troubled France." Nobles and Clergy have ascertained that voting in this assembly should be done by order, rather than head, although it remains to be seen if the peasants of France will stand such suppression. With the current attitude of the First and Second Estates, representatives of the United States to His Majesty the King of France's government question the ability of King Louis to maintain the peace.

Third Estate Protests While locked Out of Estates General
The Third Estate, alongside a few members of the First and Second Estates of France have declared themselves the National Assembly, representing the true voice of the people. Soon after, the Third Estate Delegates found themselves locked out of the Estates General. In outrage, members of the National Assembly convened in a nearby Tennis Court and vowed to not separate no matter what the costs. This is to this day, the only documented and known time that the french peasants have stood up to His Majesty Louis XVI. While the National Assembly rises to oppose the King, riots break out in Versailles and Paris when common citizens learn that their own King has locked them out of a meeting hall.

They Have Stormed the Bastille!
On this 30 day of June in the year of Our Lord 1789, a crowd of 4,000 French peasants stormed the Bastille Prison on the banks of the Seine. "Vive La Liberte!" They cry. For just as the Americans across the Atlantic have rebelled and declared themselves free we too will rebel against the injustices done unto us.

The National Assembly, which essentially holds the power of government in France, continues to split into various political "clubs" while attempting to write a new Constitution. Europe and America watches transitional France intently. King Louis XVI remains on the throne, but is confined to Paris.
