FOR THE GOOD OF RHODE ISLAND AND THE NATION, ALL MARITIME MEN MUST SUPPORT BENJAMIN BOURNE As every man reading this paper knows, the maritime trade is of critical importance for Providence and Rhode Island. That is why I, as a man of Baltimore and the sea, am writing to beseech the voting men of Rhode Island to cast their vote for BENJAMIN BOURNE. He is a man of good and great reputation. He served as a QUARTERMASTER of the 2ND RHODE ISLAND REGIMENT. He served as a JUSTICE OF THE PEACE and NEGOTIATED PEACE when faced with the COUNTRY PARTY PROTEST. He recognizes the importance of maritime trade and how it supports Providence and allows the surrounding areas to be connected with the central states, southern states and Europe. The WISDOM of Benjamin Bourne directs him to generally support the administration and the FEDERALIST PARTY. The administration and Federalist Party has a sound plan to expand our new nation's maritime trade. They know the importance of sound finances for maritime trade. The Federalists will protect our national and coastal trade vessels from PIRACY. The National Democrat, Paul Mumford, can not be counted to represent the maritime trade in the capitol. His support of direct democracy means that should a MOB decide that a TARIFF ON ALL EXPORTS were proper policy then he would support that decision thereby DOOMING MARITIME MEN. The Democrat-Republican, James Sheldon, can not be counted on to represent the maritime trade. He is a man of little repute. Furthermore, his party has no ideas for maritime trade. His party has no ideas save for reflexive opposition, to the point of ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION, to any proposal made by the WASHINGTON ADMINISTRATION and the FEDERALISTS. Benjamin Bourne is the man for the state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. He is a man of sound character and sound ideas to strengthen the maritime trade and industry for the good of the nation. Thaddeus Steward, Representative from Maryland

Francis Malbone must join the Congress for a Stronger Voice of Rhode Island
My friends in Rhode Island, approximately two years ago I wrote to you urging you to elect Benjamin Bourne to the United States congress and you did so. I urged you to elect him because he would be a sound voice for the merchantmen and traders and mariners. I believe you found my argument persuasive as you chose to elect him to the United States Congress and as a result of his vote we are on the way to a policy of a sound national banking system and reduced debt held by the states. Electing Benjamin Bourne was a sound decision and so he deserves to be elected again.
There is yet another name on the ballot this year as Rhode Island will be electing a second representative to the United States Congress. The man that I most heartily endorse is Francis Malbone. Like myself, he works as a trader, a profession that the people of Rhode Island respect and should be more appropriate for representing them in the US Congress. he will provide another sound Federalist voice to aid our President Washington and to continue the good work of promoting national unity and economic foundation.
Thaddeus Steward is a representative from Maryland.
