President Washington,
Good evening President Washington. I am writing you from my brothers townhouse in Boston, about to join the front on the Seminole Campaign. It's storming, but the storm makes me think clearer.
Let me get to the point, Mr. President, I would like to be considered for a role in the leadership of the US Army. I have shown loyalty to the US government for many years, and I would have joined the revolution, but desertion by my brother made it hard for me to leave the Prussian Army prematurely.
I have attended and graduated from the Prussian War College, arguably the most distinguished military academy in the world, and served under Field Marshal Friedrich Graf Kleist von Nollendorf as a member of his general staff.
I would have had a fantastic military career in Prussia, but the revolution inspired me to embrace democracy, and I would like to serve the fledgling United States as much as I can.
I would like to honorably request to be nominated for the position of Superintendent of the Army or of General of the Armies of the United States, considering the need for reform of the US army to compete with the European Powers, and that many folks in this nation have never had formal military training, as the revolution showed us.
Sincerely,
Retired Colonel of the Prussian and Continental Armies
Jacob Hannover

I have also been informed that the Governor have given you the rank of Major. Once Congress creates the leadership positions you have named, I will keep you in mind. Yours, George Washington
