Mr. John Adams,
I ask a personal favor and request you take my eldest son under your wing and let him work for you so that he can learn about politics. The boy has expressed a great interest in you personally and I would like him to learn from a "True Patriot." like yourself.
Signed,
Samuel Jay Representative of New Hampshire

To:
President of the Senate - John Adams President pro tempore - John Langdon
Gentleman, being men of New England you know how important the Vermont National Guard was to our defense and that the Green Mountain Boys helped us win on the Northern front in battles such as the Capture of Fort Ticonderoga and Crown Pointe which were vital to our success and to strengthening our defense with Cannons and other key weaponry. Now Vermont needs your help in becoming a State and I ask for your help in giving the bill a speedy passage, not simply because I am the bill's author but because it is what is right in returning the favor to Vermont for their assistance in our time of need.
Respectfully Yours,
Samuel Jay New Hampshire Representative

Dearest Son Jacob,
How goes your political training with John Adams? I pray he's taught you more than I possibly could. I have great respect for John Adams and believe his leadership will one day bring our new nation to greater heights he is a fair and decent man who believes in great issues. I ask of you to take your lessons seriously then to take what he's given you and return home to New England as soon as you've learned all you can and run for office because the kind of leadership Mr. Adams has is sadly lacking in this Congress.
Always Yours,
Samuel Jay

Dear Father,,
Working and Learning from Vice President Adams has done me a great service. I truly honor his guidance and leadership and I thank you father for creating this arrangement. He has taught me the strangest lessons yet they seem to make perfect sense we were planting for next spring's harvest and he told me that the ground like politics is a messy business but with the correct tools you can manipulate both to a certain degree. He has so many life lessons to teach that I could be here awhile but that depends on the speed of Vermont to elect representatives to the Senate. I greatly wish to go back to our first home and run for Vermont's Senate when the time is right.
Your loving son,
Jacob.
