All characters can attempt to influence the state legislature when deciding who to elect as the next Governor by posting here. You may write to them or even speak with them if you are from this state.
Currently, +Henry Lee III (F) and +Robert Brooke (R) are being considered to replace the incumbent Republican, who is not eligible for reelection because of term limits. The race can go either way as both candidates have the support of 50 legislators.
Thaddeus Steward wrote the following letter several times and addressed them to the most prominent legislators in the Virginia Assembly:
Dear [Virginia Delegate],
My name is Thaddeus Steward, I am a Congressman from Maryland, and as a neighbor to your state, and with several parcels of land in your state, I have some interest in the selection of the next Governor. I am writing this letter to you and several other members of the fine Virginia legislature to beseech you in the matter of selecting Henry Lee III as your next Governor.
In my estimation, the biggest difference between the two candidates is that Henry Lee III was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention where he served admirably and favored the adoption of our beloved Constitution. His opponent can make no such claim. Henry Lee III was present at our victory at Yorktown, while his opponent was actually a prisoner of war in England for a time.
The selection of your next Governor is a matter of high privilege. I would urge you to cast your vote for Henry Lee III as he is the more qualified, accomplished, and renowned of the two candidates.
Sincerely Yours, Thaddeus Steward, US Representative from Maryland
