Name: Bradford Elwin State: North Carolina District: (Not sure) Date of Birth: June 10, 1762 Place of Birth: Smithville Township, NC Place of Residence: Smithville Township, NC Bradford grew into money, as his father started a large and successful rice plantation outside of Wilmington. After serving in the Revolutionary army for several years and working his way up as a lieutenant, Bradford returned to run the plantation in late 1782 after the death of his father. It may seem peculiar that such a Federalist would come out of the South, but Bradford's first hand experiences in the war has exposed him to both love his young country while also maintaining crucial business relationships back in England and across Europe.
