Hello, everyone! It is a real pleasure to be in the Federalist Party now. I know not long ago I was facing off against you, but I hope I can now join the Federalists in pushing a moderate agenda for the nation.
I'm not sure how the Speaker nomination process works over here, but I will be straightforward: Jack Terrus (me) wants to run for Speaker. If we can get enough indies, and everyone comes together, I think he could win it for the party. But what do y'all think?
Were I to win, I would take a more coordinative approach than Hughes, working with the party to develop dockets instead of just dictating to the party.

Given the effort that he put in that allowed us to make some good gains in this election cycle, I'd be happy to support Jack Terrus for Speaker.

While I do appreciate the effort and support that Terrus gave, and several of our victories would not have happened without him, I'm not sure making him Speaker is the best idea immediately after he becomes a federalist. The people may interpret it a bribe or plot. Certainly the Nationalists and Republicans will present it that way.
Perhaps it would be best to wait one session. I do believe Terrus would be an effective Speaker, I think patience may be more prudent.

I'd support Terrus, though I definitely see what Magenta is saying.

I do see Magenta's point. Who do we want to put up, then?
The Republicans and National Democrats have developed a coalition. Unless Tedder lets use get the independents (which I doubt he'll allow since it'll beat a coalition despite our backing the candidates), looks like we'll be in the minority

I don't suppose therevis an independent we could support? Country before party...

How about Frederick Muhlenberg?

We'd need to check with Tedder on that. I mean all we'll get is a player "Deputy Speaker" that runs things anyway.

What about Addie? He's a Southerner, which will downplay the allegation we're a Northern-run party, and he's very active, so he'll do a better job than Hughes did. I think we could get independents to support him, too.

Wait, nvm. He's about to be Speaker. That's a no-go.

Tedder reports that if we nominate Muhlenberg, we should be able to get all the indies, pending Fellador's authorization.
I'm PMing Fellador now.

(8:53:54 PM) Bluto: If the Federalists name you or Terrus as speker I'll break rank and vote for your Speaker on a condition (8:54:09 PM) DamienAustin usg: What's the condition? (8:54:28 PM) Bluto: give me at least a level 1 aye to my confirmation

That almost makes it worth turning down the Supreme Court gig...

Also, what if it were my next multi (who will be from the House)? Is that alright if I make him sound more awesome?

Pretty much everyone is new to Congress at this point, so I hardly think it'd be unusual. I definitely think it's doable. You'd need to resign immediately, though, to get your replacement in place.
We've just picked up two independents, and the other independents we backed are willing to support the Federalist choice. So we've got the majority. We should still take Bluto on, though -- that gives us even more of a solid majority. So shall we anoint Addie? Any objections?
You'll need to create your char tonight, Adam, so we can get him signed in and everything. We'll all need to change our roll call votes.

No objections.

Nevermind. Bluto being gone means we don't quite have the 24 necessary to get majority.
Let's all just back Muhlenberg, unless there's an objection. That gets us to a majority. We'll only get to have the "Deputy Speaker," but what matters is having docket control.
