Hey there, everyone!
We've got our 1790 races up for the House of Representatives. I'm going to copy the races below- and then have some suggestions for folks in RED colored font. Please let me know if you have questions or if ideas of your own. REMEMBER: The first day is due TONIGHT.
We can do: (1) AS MANY SPEECHES AS YOU WANT, IN YOUR HOME STATE ONLY. (2) 1 EDITORIAL PER CHARACTER PER DAY.
Here's the newspapers we should be focusing on: Everyone should be writing editorials in newspapers other than the NYDT. The NYDT will be telling its readers to vote for Federalists; we should use the other news sources to reach other constituents. The Pennsylvania Gazette and Boston Gazette are best for PA and NJ. The PA Gazette, Boston Gazette, Maryland Gazette, and Philadelphia Inquirer are all good for MD. The Southern Journal Constitution is best for NC/VA.
Some general notes to use:
- REPUBLICANS are generally ANTI-ADMINISTRATION. So if you're writing about Republicans, be mean! Say that they're unpatriotic and they don't support President Washington. Say they support the people who tried to assassinate President Washington. One of the players (he was banned) as a Republican - Bubba Redneck is the character name - suggested that every law be voted on by all people in the country. Say they want to use that to return to an era of mob rule, where blacks and whites and men and women all have an equal say in the policies of our country. If you're writing an editorial for up north? Say that the Republicans want the agricultural south to determine the laws of the industrial north (and vice-versa if you're writing in the South). In the South, where I'll be writing, I'll talk about how one Republican wanted to undo the 3/5ths Compromise that would eliminate any power that the South has in Washington. The idea is we want to be dirty. We want to put them on the defensive. If you're campaigning in Maryland and below- say that the Republicans want to FREE THE SLAVES AND GIVE BLACKS THE VOTE!
- NATIONAL DEMOCRATS are supposedly PRO-ADMINISTRATION. The message to use with them is that they are traitors, they're unorganized. They've left the Federalists because of personality politics, not because they believe in the country. They believe in mob rule because-- well, they're insane. They want universal white male suffrage- this means that debtors can vote on budgets. This means that prisoners can vote on who will overturn their crimes. Make it sound horrible, and you'll be right. Say they secretly worship the likes of Benedict Arnold who sold out America for the promise of money and power.
- Mention candidates BY NAME. Don't say "The Federalist Party is great!" - Voters aren't going to know. In Delaware (for example), you'd use "John Vining has stated that he demands the right to vote for all men! He wants to deliver this country into the hands of the mob! Only Joshua Clayton is the right choice!"
---
Delaware (At-large) (1 elected)
+John Vining (ND) (60%)

+James Linn (R) (8%)

Terrus, who will be joining the Federalists soon, is helping us out here. All the independents will eventually, IRL, become Federalists, so we should support them here.
New York 3rd: +Egbert Benson (F) (60%) vs +Theodorus Bailey (R) (40%)
Terrus will be helping us here if need be.
North Carolina 5th: *John Sevier (R) (60%) vs +William Barry Grove (F) (40%)

Legion, Clay, Landry: We need you to focus here with your editorials. We will support ALL the Federalists on this list. Don't attack the Independents (in fact, Fitzsimons later becomes a Federalist IRL)- the goal is to get our Federalists moving up on the list, and moving the R's and the ND's down below the line.

Landry, Magenta: While this isn't a Marquee race, you are both in the state, so please consider writing up short speeches in support of Federalists, Key, Vans Murray, and George Gale (who all later become Federalists). They don't need to be long, but can help us make huge inroads into the state. And don't forget to campaign for each other! (Don't campaign for yourself).

+James Davenport (ND) (3%)
Terrus and I will work this one.
Virginia 4th: +Richard Bland Lee (I) (50%) vs +Patrick Henry (R) (50%)
I may get involved and keep an eye on it. Surratt will almost certainly do so many speeches here, that it's a lost cause.
Massachusetts Senate: Senator *Tristram Dalton (F) is being challenged by supporters of +George Cabot (ND). It is expected that around 60 legislators support Cabot at this point.
Legion, this is your state, so please get involved with speaking to the legislature (you can do that in the "States" thread). Cabot's evil, Dalton has served impeccably and has experience, etc. etc.
Maryland Governor: Governor *John Eager Howard (F) is being challenged by supporters of +George Plater (I). It is expected that approximately 60 legislators support Plater at this time.
Magenta, Landry, this is your state, so please get involved with speaking to the legislature (you can do that in the "States" thread).
New Jersey Senate: Senator *Jonathan Elmer (I) is being challenged by supporters of +John Rutherfurd (F). It is expected that around 65 legislators support Rutherford at this point.
Terrus is helping here.
New York Senate: Senator *Philip Schuyler (F) is being challenged by supporters of +Aaron Burr (R). It is expected that around 75 legislators support Burr at this point.
Terrus is helping here.
Virginia Senate: +John Walker (F) and *James Monroe (R). It is expected that around 75 legislators support Monroe at this point.
I will be watching this to see what I can do- though it's probably a lost cause.
Virginia Governor: Governor *Beverly Randolph (I) is being challenged by supporters of +Henry Lee III (F). It is expected that approximately 55 legislators support Lee at this time.
I will be watching this to see what I can do.
