This body elected me as Chair at a time when there were only three members of this body, one of whom is now in Canada fleeing arrest. My mission was simple: just to organize the party in some way. I'd like to think that I did so, as represented by the charter. I do feel it prudent now for someone else to replace me, though, and therefore announce my resignation, effective upon the election of a replacement.
Per the Charter, I do hereby open the floor for nominations for Chair for 48 hours. To get on the ballot, a person needs to be nominated by someone else, and then must accept the nomination; a second is not required.
Nominees Isaiah Scott The Johnson
Candidates William Brandt Elijah Surratt

I am honored, but I must decline. I am stepping down now because I feel we need a strong Republican to head up our party's electoral efforts.

Terrus, unless you're resigning right now, I don't think this is necessary.

I appreciate the vote of support, Surratt, but I do really want to make room for someone else to step up. I've run a party every reincarnation of CIL -- I'd love the opportunity to not take such a partisan role.
More to the point, I may soon be nominated to be Counsel of the United States, and I do not feel it prudent to remain chairman of the party while serving as the nation's attorney. And even more to the point, I'm really too moderate to be the party chair.
So, yeah -- I'm afraid I just cannot continue service as Chair in good conscience. But, I'll go ahead and nominate Surratt for Chair.

thank ya'll for the nomination that was right kind of me. my grandpappy always said i would amount to something big but I always interpreted that to mean kissin on the preacher's girl behind the steeple on a humid sundee afternoon. ya'lls faith in me means a lot and i will try not to let you down. But still i think Brandt would be better because he's got his stuff together more than anyone else i think. so thank ya'll a lot, i accept the nomination but brandt has my vote!

Hah. Indeed.
Brandt is the only candidate atm (no one else has accepted), though we've still 24 hours to go. Brandt, do you want to talk at all about what you'd like to do as party chair?

Sure, the party chair is someone who should provide vision and direction for the party as a whole and generally coordinate its success in elections. But it takes the entire party working together to be successful, the party chair cannot do it alone so I would hope that if i am granted the confidence of this party through election that we can become a much more active party, I do like our involvement in debate but I feel as if we need to coordinate our talking points so we are not appearing to be disorganized or even run the possibility of disorganization.
Quite simply we need to highlight a clear difference between ourselves and the Federalists, if we can demonstrate for example the tendency of Federalists to support weaker states and a stronger national government we can highlight our support for a weaker centralized government and greater support for state government. It is important that we continue to play up these differences in our debate, in our articles within the in-game newspapers and within our electoral strategy. If I am elected as Chair I do not plan on running for President unless nobody else steps up at which time I will gladly resign the chairmanship and allow other leadership in place to handle the running of day to day party business.
This is basically what I had planned to do as party chair, we need to continue to promote activity and more than anything work to get a unified strategy on each issue before publicizing position, etc. If you have specific questions feel free to ask them.

I'll decline my nomination. If we really are going to have only one person running then I'll rescind my offer of declining. I enjoy a contest for contests sake.
