There will be an "election watch" tonight on aim. Sometime between five and seven. I'm sorry I can't be more specific... But oh well. Keep watching aim. If you aren't in the blast please PM me and I'll add you.

My apologies, I completely miscounted the party numbers for the 1st Congress and Tyler was accidently not included. That, as well as bluto's party switch results in 19 Federalists, 15 Republicans, and 31 Independents. conceivedinliberty.freeforums.net/thread/32/official-player-roster-1st-congressAlso, everyone please update their signatures with at least your primary character and state. It makes everything easier for both the admins and your fellow players.

A couple announcements: 1. A special 1 day election will be held to determine the Vermont Congressional election. I've updated the 1789 Newspaper Readership Points to include Vermont. Players with a character in Vermont are eligible to run in the special election, but be sure to file to run before 11:59PM on Saturday (6/14). The election will be held Sunday (6/15). 2. After significant deliberation, it has been decided that only primary characters are eligible to submit scandals. However, admins will occasionally approach your multis with scandal opportunities. An example of this would be offering your newspaper editor a bribe for a favorable article. If you accept the bribe, then you get to keep the money and the action is added to the scandal database. 3. Remember that you must maintain a separate warchest for each character. At the current time, there is no penalty to transfer money from one character to another (or even one player to another). This may change in the future.

You will notice that the state forums are no longer private. This allows characters to influence State and Governor elections outside of their own state. The rules have been updated to account for this and to include a previous decision to allow player Governors in all states.

((Don't miss the other announcements above.)) Thanks to terrus, we're fleshing out the Newspaper rules a bit. I'm using his suggestions nearly verbatim with some changes. The only real change to the way it is currently done is that newspapers now earn $3 per readership point but have to pay state newspaper taxes (all states start as $1 per point but this can be changed as with any other state law). Old rules:

It's taking longer than expected for me to put together the 1790 house election list, so we may need to make an adjustment to the calendar. Regardless, be on the lookout for the election candidate list. Since we have 3 parties, each will only select four races. At-large states are treated as one race.

I have been thinking, since there was allot to cover Internationally in 1790 and I'm obviously not the most active right now due to exams, about selling news stories to people. The way that would work is someone would PM me with a news story not related to the French Revolution and I'd approve it, for a cost of five dollars. This isn't set in stone yet but it's something I'm looking at.
