Discussed this a little with Bruce. We should do this... just because.
Attributes:
Plan to scale from 0-100, except surrogates.
Martial - Improves character's ability in duels & military missions.
Influence - Improves character's influence over NPC voting and public perception through editorials.
Charisma - Improves character's ability to change public perception through speeches and improves effectiveness of election speeches.
Wealth - Reflects the wealth of character's estate. Provides a fixed net income for the player every year.
Surrogates - (Same effect as current)
Not really an attribute but...
Health - By default, all individuals have a health of 100. This means that that particular character has a 100% chance of surviving the year. Likewise, a character with a health of 50 has only a 50% chance of surviving the year (dying, otherwise to natural causes).
Trait Point System - Yet to have thought about it. Too lazy to think for now.
Congenital Traits
Maximum of two.
Attractive : + 10 Charisma (Costs 2 Trait Points)
Strong : +10 Martial (Costs 2 Trait Points)
Intelligent : +5 Influence, +5 Wealth (Costs 2 Trait Points)
Tall : +3 Charisma, +2 Influence (Costs 1 Trait Points)
Hunchback : -5 Martial, - 5 Charisma (Adds 1 Trait Point)
Short : -3 Influence, -2 Charisma (Adds 0.5 Trait Point)
Ugly : -5 Charisma (Adds 0.5 Trait Point)
Stammerer : -5 Influence, -5 Charisma (Adds 1 Trait Point)
Imbecile : -5 Martial, -5 Influence, -5 Charisma, -5 Wealth (Adds 1 Trait Point)
Background Traits
Maximum of two sets (each set separated by spacing)
War Veteran : +3 Influence, +20% Charisma among Military & Veterans (Costs 1 Trait Point)
Maimed : -10 Health, +3 Influence, +3 Charisma; Must be War Veteran (Costs None)
Eye Blinded : -10 Martial, +3 Charisma; Must be War Veteran (Costs None)
Farmer : +5 Wealth (Costs 1 Trait Point)
Slave Owner : +10 Wealth, -50% Influence & Charisma in Free States, -80% Influence & Charisma among blacks; Must reside in a slave state (Costs None)
