All noteworthy actions within the game will be posted here for newspapers to turn into articles. Nothing posted here is public knowledge until your paper breaks the story. Posts here will include both player & NPC actions, so the redundant info may be mixed in with the new information.
For added gameplay flavor, we will often be presenting these in the form of messages from riders that have been dispatched to important characters.

Location: Georgia and Florida border Indians: Seminoles
Georgian farmers near the border with Spanish Florida have reported sightings of Seminole Indians raiding their farms. So far, three ;large plantations and five modest farms have been wrecked by Seminole Raids. It does not appear that the Seminole Warriors have any intention of letting up.

A Message from Georgia to New York
Gentlemen,
The Seminole Indians raiding Georgia have met little to no resistance from the honorable Georgia Militia. While I do not doubt the fine skills and prowess of the most esteemed Georgia Militia I am worried, now that the savages have reached the heart of Georgia that we will not be able to stop this savage attack. I fear for my family if no action is taken.
Forever your servant,
Richard

As if a wildfire, the violence on the Georgia/Florida border has grown. Other tribes such as the Creeks and even Choctaws are said to have also taken up arms against American settlers. The situation on our southern frontier is dire indeed. Attached is a rudimentary map of the recent attacks.

By a vote of 21-25-4, the House fails a bill to establish a national bank. This is seen as an early blow to the young Federalist Party.

James Jackson, Republican from the Georgia 1st, has resigned his seat in Congress in order to lead a regiment in the Seminole campaign. He is the second member of Congress to do so. He has been replaced by Isaiah Scott, who ran on "a radical Democratic-Republican platform of states' rights."
Josiah Parker, Federalist from the Virginia 8th, has resigned from Congress to serve in the Virginia state legislature. He has been replaced by another Federalist, Theodore Hamilton.
Reportedly distraught over abolitionists in Congress, William Loughton Smith (F:SC1) has resigned to practice law in Charleston. In a special election he was replaced by the 29-year-old Andrew Beaumont, also a Federalist.
Congressman Samuel Griffin (R:VA10) has resigned from Congress after being reelected mayor of Williamsburg. He was replaced by Thomas Cole, also a Federalist.
George Mathews (F:GA3) has resigned from Congress. Rumors have it that he expects new opportunities for land speculation to open up after the Seminoles are defeated and wishes to capitalize on the opportunity. He has been replaced by William Brandt, a Republican. (OOC: The party switch is as a result of me not having updated the available seats list and won't happen again.)

Thousands of Creek warriors recently descended on the Humphrey plantation near the trading settlement Cedar Shoals, Georgia (near modern-day Athens, GA). The entire family was scalped, servants killed, livestock stolen or slaughtered, and all structured set on fire.
This marks the latest in an increase of Native American attacks on settlers. Just recently, President Washington called on each state to lend militia units and thousands of troops are currently being mustered.

A group of 7 Congressmen and 3 Senators have created a new political party called the National Democracy Party. Many of the members of the new party are coming from the Federalists, leading most to conclude that this is a split of that party. The ND Party came in large part after the joining of the Boston Society and the Essex Junto. The latter is seem as a far-left group within the Federalist Party. This creates its own problems for the ambitious Boston Society, who attempted to portrayed themselves as more moderate. Additionally, the ND Party is seen in some circles as being the result of personal and petty feuds among politicians. The party has its work cut out for them to prove to the voters that they are substantially different from the Federalists. It must also figure out where it falls on the political spectrum as a group. While outflanking the Federalists may be appealing in the Northeast, it will be hard to turn that into a national party. The new leaders of the National Democracy Party are: Speaker Pro Tempore Gordon Battle Hughes (NH2) (Formerly F) Representative Albert Hannover (MA3) (Formerly F) Representative David Lee (VT1) (Formerly F) Representative Orison Pratt (MA1) (Formerly (F) +Representative Fisher Ames (MA5) (Formerly F) +Representative Jeremiah Wadsworth (CT4) (Formerly I) +Representative Elbridge Gerry (MA8) (Formerly R) +Senator Tristram Dalton (MA) (Formerly I) +Senator John Langdon (NH) (Formerly I) +Senator Paine Wingate (NH) (Formerly F) +Mr. Timothy Pickering +Mr. George Cabot +Mr. Francis Dana +Mr. Stephen Higginson +Mr. Israel Thorndike +Mr. Theophilus Parsons +Mr. George Clymer Major Jacob Hannover, South Carolina Militia Colonel William Bathurst, New Hampshire Militia The 1st Congress Roster has been updated.
